David A. Ven Huizen

Funeral Director, President & Owner

Born in Moline, David graduated from Erie High School before going on to Worsham College of Mortuary Science. He fine-tuned his skills by attending the Fountain National Academy of Professional Embalming Skills. David began his career as a funeral director in 1988 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, where he has been serving Quad City area families at their time of need. In 2018, he became President & Owner of Wheelan-Pressly. David also serves as Deputy Coroner for Rock Island County.

David and his wife, Lisa (Hodgson) Ven Huizen, have two daughters, Victoria and Skylar, two grandsons, Logan and Lukas and a granddaughter, Lydia. They are members of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Rock Island, where David is a member of the Knights of Columbus Allouez Council 658.

David is proud of his calling and lives by the Golden Rule of funeral service, treating people the way he would want to be treated in a most difficult time.

"A family has trusted you to help them through the toughest thing a family has to go through. We have our word and our actions; it's how we are judged. You treat people the way you would want to be treated in a most difficult time. No matter what is going on in your world, the people you are serving need you, and you must do everything you can to help them."

Joseph Perez

Funeral Director, Vice President & Owner

Raised in Rock Island, Joe has been around funeral and cremation services since he was 12. He began working at Wheelan-Pressly at 16, when he mowed the property, washed vehicles, and assisted with visitation and flower deliveries. He studied business prior to going to Worsham College of Mortuary Science, where he graduated in 2007. Joe was working at a funeral home in Rockford, Illinois, before receiving an offer from Steve Pressly to come home and rejoin his dedicated and talented staff as a Funeral Director in 2009. Steve has been a consistent mentor to Joe over the years, working with area families. Joe is licensed in both, Illinois and Iowa. In Joe’s free time, he enjoys spending time with family, golfing, playing softball and a variety of other community activities.

“I love helping people. Serving as funeral director allows me to meet and help people get through some of the toughest times in their lives. Many of the families we serve have had a part to play in my success growing up here, whether it was teaching, coaching, encouraging, pastoring, employing or just giving me a friendly smile. I feel humbled, honored and privileged to serve and give back.”

Jason C. Stickell

Funeral Director & Embalmer

Originally from Knoxville, IL Jason graduated from Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg where he earned his degree in mortuary science. Jason has been on staff since 1997 and lives in Moline. In Jason's free time, he enjoys hunting, archery and spending time with family.

Wylie Halferty

Funeral Director & Embalmer

A native of Stockton, Iowa, Wylie graduated from Davenport West High School and began working at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory soon after. Wylie then earned his mortuary science degree from Carl Sandburg College in May 2019. Wylie is a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer in Illinois and a Certified Crematory Operator. In his free time, Wylie enjoys playing golf, following current events, and spending time with family and friends.

Maddy (Perry) Killinger

Funeral Director & Embalmer

Maddy is a Rock Island native and graduated from Rock Island High School in 2015. After high school she graduated from Augustana College, Rock Island, where she earned her bachelor's degree in Biology and Anthropology. It was during her time at Augustana that she started working at the funeral home. Maddy earned her degree in Mortuary Science from Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg.

Maddy resides in Rock Island with her husband. She enjoys sewing, kayaking and fishing. Maddy also volunteers with the Cops and Firefighters for Christmas program in Rock Island.

Michele Walloch

Funeral Director & Embalmer

Michele was born in Davenport and later moved to Eldridge where she graduated from North Scott High School in 2005. After high school, she attended the University of Iowa, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. Michele then attended the University of Minnesota where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mortuary Science in 2012. Following graduation, she worked in Fargo, ND for ten years before returning to the Quad Cities in 2022.

Michele is a licensed funeral director and embalmer in North Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa and Illinois, a certified crematory operator, and a licensed insurance agent.

Michele lives in Davenport with her corgi, Roscoe. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, kayaking, and cooking.

Michele is happy to be back in the area and thankful for the opportunity to serve the families from her hometown community with compassion and honor the lives of their loved ones.

Kristi Hoffman

Office Manager

After more than 18 years at Wheelan-Pressly, Kristi can’t imagine working somewhere else. She loves the team’s caring approach to serving families as well as the variety in each week. Kristi has a business degree from Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapids. She and her husband met there and have been married 25 years. They have three children and a dog. Kristi is an active volunteer with the kids’ sports activities as well as community events. She looks forward to the day she can get on the golf course more often and travel the country.

Sarah Mitchell

Administrative Assistant

As someone who has been around the funeral industry her whole life, Sarah enjoys the uniqueness of working for a funeral home and crematory. She has a business and marketing major from St. Ambrose University, which helps her every day as she interacts with families in need at her “second home,” Wheelan-Pressly. Sarah stays active in the community through her involvement in Junior Board of Rock Island, Planning and Zoning for Rock Island and Festival of Trees, among other organizations. She is a sports enthusiast who plays tennis, walks and runs while also making time for reading and baking. She is thankful to have an inviting, caring family around her every day while helping other families at their time of need.

Terri Henry

Pre-need Funeral Counselor

Terri grew up in East Moline and graduated from United Township High School. Terri has been married to her husband, Mark for 32 years. Together they have three sons, Brandon, Derrick and Jordan, as well as three grandchildren. Terri has resided in Erie, IL for the last 41 years. She enjoys traveling, walking and gardening.

Terri has been a pre-need counselor for the 27 years. She's passionate about her job because it allows her to meet new people whom she calls friends. She gets to help families make important decisions about how they want their legacy remembered and celebrated. She's truly honored to serve.

Janice Hofer

Funeral Assistant/Greeter

Janice is a lifelong resident of Reynolds. Married for more than 50 years, she and her husband

Dan are parents to Craig (Sydney) and Brian (Sarah). They also have four grandkids, Alex,

Adam, Payton and Emma.

Janice retired from Rock Island County in 2017. Prior to that, she worked for the Illinois

Quad City Area REALTOR Association. For more than 30 years, she has been active in the

Reynolds Volunteer Fire Department and is a fourth-generation member of Reynolds

United Methodist Church. Before the pandemic, she volunteered rocking babies in the NICU at

Unity Point in Moline.

In their free time, Dan and Janice enjoy following their grandkids in their school and sports

activities. Janice also enjoys camping, canning, reading and spending time with her family.

Janice enjoys working at Wheelan Pressly because of their caring and professionalism, as well

as the family atmosphere.
