Attending a funeral is an important part of the grieving process for everyone, including children. Children need family support when someone important to them dies, and that usually means that they attend the funeral with family.

Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory encourages adults to talk with children when a parent, grandparent or other friend or relative dies. A direct, honest approach works best to answer their questions about where grandma went and what happens now. By preparing children for funeral services, they will know what to expect and will learn that death is a part of life. Children can even be involved in the memorialization of a loved one. Please see below for a video and booklet that will guide you and help you talk to children about funerals and death.
